Lessons from the Ocean
What the ocean teaches us about art and life
Get ready to dive in and explore the ocean as a source of inspiration, mystery, and renewal. In this experiential art and mindfulness course, we will work with the rhythms, patterns, and processes of the ocean as a lens for understanding creativity, perception, and everyday life.
Through myth and story, guided meditations, and drawing and painting, we will examine what the ocean can teach us about change, resilience, interconnectedness, and the creative process. From tides and currents to waves and horizons, each session draws on a different aspect of the marine environment as both subject matter and metaphor.
Join us as we explore the ocean as a teacher whose lessons inspire how we see, create, and live.
No experience required. Ideal for: artists, nature lovers, creative professionals, meditators, and anyone interested in exploring the connections between art, mindfulness, and the natural world.

The ocean has captivated artists and poets throughout the ages. From Winslow Homer to Katsushika Hokusai, artists have always looked to the ocean as a source of primordial wisdom. We'll explore examples of how different artists have painted the sea to express emotion, mystery, and power.

The Art Path Approach
The Art Path was created to offer a different kind of art education, one focused on the human experience rather than a particular technique or product. This approach is based on the belief that art is a function of our being, something that we do naturally when we allow ourselves to become present in the moment, and listen to our hearts and the world.

Your guide on The Art Path
I'm Marlowe K - artist, educator, and lifelong explorer of creative and contemplative paths. With a foundation in visual art and mindfulness traditions, I have experienced first hand how fundamental these practices are to our human experience. That’s what led me to create The Art Path—a space to be guided by both creativity and presence on the journey to wisdom, wellbeing, and wonder. I’m honored to walk this path with you—and excited for the discoveries we’ll make along the way!
